Ronnie Dunn – Seneca Allegany Casino, Salamanca, NY – 08/28/2011‏

Salamanca, NY – One was the loneliest number, and then there was…Dunn! Ronnie Dunn (of Brooks & Dunn fame), more than proved that there’s plenty of life in the ‘solo’ lane during his sold out show, at the Seneca Allegany Casino. Who needs Brooks when one Dunn has it all?

The crowd displayed a strong showing of loyal fans (comprised mostly of the “Matlock” generation), as the show itself was an array of shooting confetti, undisputed twang, and undoubtedly, true grit – to the soul’s core. Clearly, Dunn made us all believe that he’s far from ‘done,’ and not just another “Singer In A Cowboy Band.” A most fitting opening to his 75 minute short, sweet, yet very complete, ‘solo’ show. Surely, the honky tonkin,’ boot stompin,’ hand clappin’ crowd just wanted to “Let The Cowboy Rock.” Another stellar standout track from his debut CD, played perfectly with a full countrified, concise conviction.

It’s hard to not have faith when you follow the “Red Dirt Road.” Truly, one of the night’s best moments, as the song is a real career highlight for Dunn, and of course, a modern day classic Country song. This one hits home with every listen (especially live). Lyrically, musically, and entirely emotionally. Borrowing heavily from the Brooks & Dunn ‘swan song’ album, “Cowboy Town,” “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” showcased a much more passionate side of the smooth singer. An endearing, father and daughter autobiographical story accompanied this tune quite well.

“Play Something Country” was the running rodeo, hillbilly deluxe theme at heart. Fast paced catchy hooks,extra lively lyrics, and a snappy chorus proved, “You Can’t Take The Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl” or anybody! Moreover, and more importantly, Dunn single handedly displayed that he is living proof that his perpetual legacy will carry on, along with his superior signature touch of honest brilliance. From heart to soul, one cowboy town to another, no one can deny Mr. Dunn has one of the best voices in Country music today. Full gallon sized hats off to a stellar and sublime set list, to one flawless 1/2 of the most successful Country duo. Kudos to leaving cowboys like us with a smile, a mile wide…Texas style. In Dunn We Trust!
