CJ Pierce – Drowning Pool – Rock Interview Series ep#121 – 04-27-2025

Welcome to Episode 121 of the Rock Interview Series. For this feature CJ Pierce, lead guitarist of the hard-hitting band Drowning Pool is the special guest.

Drowning Pool crashed onto the scene in 2001 with their debut album, “Sinner.” The album featured the massive hit “Bodies.” This song quickly became a rock anthem. But their journey has been marked by adversity. In 2002, tragedy struck when their lead singer, Dave Williams, passed away suddenly while the band was on tour. Despite the loss, they refused to let it define them, pushing forward with unwavering dedication to their music.

Fast forward to today, and Drowning Pool is still going strong with the current lineup: Ryan McCombs on vocals, CJ Pierce on guitar, Stevie Benton on bass, and Mike Luce on drums. Fresh off a killer European tour with Godsmack, they’ve recently dropped two new singles, setting the stage for an exciting new studio record by the end of the year.

But that’s not all—CJ dives into some fascinating topics in this interview! He talks about using AI to create music, reflecting on Drowning Pool’s experience playing with Mötley Crüe in 2009, and reveals his five favorite records of all time. Plus, we tackle the hot-button issue of concert ticket prices and so much more.

So kick back, and enjoy this exclusive conversation with one of rock music greatest guitarists – CJ Pierce.
