Buffalo, NY – Goth-horror, shock-rocker Wednesday 13 returned to the Buffalo, NY area last Wednesday night on his “There’s No Such Thing As Monsters” tour, delivering a stunning 15-song performance. The show, which celebrated the 20-year milestone of his 2005 debut album Transylvania 90210: Songs of Death, Dying, and the Dead, captivated an intimate venue filled with nearly 300 die-hard fans.
Supporting Wednesday 13 were goth rockers Stitched Up Heart, featuring the dynamic frontwoman Alecia ‘Mixi’ Demner, and The Dead Rabbits—the side project of Craig Mabbitt from Escape the Fate. Both bands delivered powerful performances that primed the crowd, building anticipation for the star of the evening: Wednesday 13.
Wednesday 13, who is also jokingly referred to as the Duke of Spook, kicked off the night with his classic banger track “Look What the Bats Dragged In,” instantly setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. His crackerjack band—featuring Diego “Ashes” Ibarra and Jack Tankersley on guitars, Troy Doebbler on bass, and Jason West on drums—provided a robust musical backdrop, while Wednesday 13 captivated the crowd with his gravelly vocals, sugar-infused energy and punky snot nosed attitude.
The fourth song of the evening, “When the Devil Commands,” is a brand-new track from Wednesday 13’s upcoming release, “Mid Death Crisis,” set to drop on Friday, April 25th on Napalm Records. In recent interviews, Wednesday 13 has stated that he feels this album might be the best record of his career. Judging from the energy of the first two singles, it certainly sounds like he could be onto something.
For the encores, Wednesday 13 revisited his classic Murderdolls material—a nod to his days in the band alongside the late rock legend Joey Jordison, the iconic drummer from the mega-successful nu-metal band Slipknot. The crowd erupted as he unleashed the final 3 tracks of the evening- “Slit My Wrist,” “Dead in Hollywood,” and the fan-favorite anthem “I Love to Say Fuck,” delivering a powerful, nostalgic punch to the face.
Overall, this was an amazing show at a very affordable price—tickets were only $30, making it a great value for three highly entertaining bands. At 48 years old, Wednesday 13 continues to deliver with fierce energy and passion, proving there’s still plenty of rock and roll left in him. He might very well be the chosen one to someday step into the shoes of shock rock godfather Alice Cooper when the legend finally decides to call it a day.
