Buffalo, NY -Buffalo got a dose of doom-psych magic last Tuesday as Blackwater Holylight opened for power trio doom band -Russian Circles at The Rec Room. I caught their set before the crowd got overwhelming. Blackwater performed as a power trio on this evening, though they’ve previously toured as a four- and even five-piece. The all-female band remains one of the most unique acts in heavy music today—haunting, heavy, and unforgettable, with a sound that blends ethereal harmonies, fuzz-drenched riffs, and hypnotic grooves. Their most recent EP, ‘If You Only Knew,’ is a tightly crafted four-song release that showcases their dynamic range and emotional depth. Here’s a few photos I captured in very tricky lighting.
