Welcome to episode #150 of the Rock Interview Series, recorded on July 6, 2026. For this feature, I’m joined by singer, songwriter, and guitarist John Corabi.
At 67 years old, John shows no signs of slowing down. His career includes significant roles in The Scream, Mötley Crüe, Union, Ratt, and The Dead Daisies, and he’s now fully focused on his solo work.
In this interview, we dig into John’s newest release, “New Day” — his first full length solo studio album. This record is released on Frontiers Music.
We also cover his current tour, his views on AI in music, his songwriting process, and much more.
John’s current touring band — John Corabi and Friends — consist of all-star musicians: John Corabi (vocals/guitar), Troy Luccketta (drums), Jeremy Asbrock (lead guitar), Michael Devin (bass), and Paul Taylor (keyboards).
John approaches this new chapter with humor and realism. He talked about hoping for a moment of rediscovery, saying, “I’m hoping at some point that like the Goo Goo Dolls, somebody will go and find an old John Corabi song and maybe put it in a movie or a commercial or a TikTok video that goes viral. They’ll go, ‘Oh, who’s this guy? Let me look him up.’ Oh s, he’s got 19 records.”
His focus remains on building momentum through hard work. John Corabi and Friends is a new band, which means starting from scratch. John explained the challenge clearly: “We’ve all kind of realized we’re a new band. Nobody knows we exist at this point. So we need to go out, play the shows, throw down, kick some ass, and hopefully those people will tell other people, ‘Oh my god, you’ve got to go see John Corabi and Friends.’” He keeps a positive attitude and continues moving forward, fully committed to the grind.
Questions about The Dead Daisies came up during the conversation, though John admitted he isn’t sure what the future holds. He spent the years 2015 through 2018 as the band’s frontman and returned again in 2023 for a short run of shows when the group reunited a classic lineup. John described the current situation with blunt honesty: “To be quite honest with you, I don’t know what is going on with that band right now. Michael, bass player and I are just sitting here scratching our heads.” He mentioned unexpected shows, releases, and mixed signals after he signed his solo deal, adding, “I don’t even know what’s going on right now… are we still employed by the Daisies? I don’t even know.” Despite the confusion, he remains unfazed and focused on his own work, saying he is proud of the record he just delivered.
John Corabi’s story in 2026 is one of persistence. His career has taken him through major bands, global tours, and countless reinventions. His newest chapter is powered by the same drive he had decades ago. He continues to show up, perform with passion, and let the music speak for itself. John is too talented to be ignored, and with the release of “New Day,” he should finally get the recognition he deserves.
