Buffalo, NY – The Black Star Riders, who are currently on tour with Judas Priest and Saxon, as a supporting act, took advantage of a day off from the tour to perform a headlining show at the Buffalo Iron Works club in Buffalo, NY.
The Black Star Riders, who were formed out of the ashes of classic rock band, Thin Lizzy, consists of veteran musicians: Scott Gorham – guitars, Damon Johnson – guitars, Ricky Warwick – vocals/guitar, Robert Crane – bass and Chad Szeliga – drums.
On this evening, a smaller than expected crowd witnessed an intense, 18-song performance, which featured many tracks from the band’s recently released third record, ‘Heavy Fire.’ Although the band was plagued with a poor sound mix, they still managed to deliver the goods.
Guitarists, Gorham and Johnson, dazzled the audience with some incredible fretwork. Gorham- at age 67- is still a force on the six string. The duo’s performance on the encore, the Thin Lizzy classic, “The Boys Are Back in Town,” was truly spectacular in such an intimate setting. Unfortunately, less than 50 people witness this magical event. Pretty sad, but when you think about it, it’s kind of the norm for a cold Wednesday night in downtown Buffalo.
If you love classic rock, you must check out the Black Star Riders. They are currently on tour with Judas Priest and Saxon. Or, you can check out their three releases: ‘Heavy Fire’ (2017), ‘The Killer Instinct’ (2015) and ‘All Hell Breaks Loose’ (2013).
